This week is Mental Health Awareness Week 2020

This week, 18th-24th May, is Mental Health Awareness Week 2020.

The Mental Health Foundation work tirelessly to help people around the world understand and deal with issues such as stress, body image anxiety. They aim to improve everyone’s mental wellbeing through community programmes, research, public engagement and advocacy.

This year, the theme for Mental Health Awareness Week is kindness, focusing on the power and potential of acts of kindness. It is proven that helping others, and being helped in return, has a positive impact on our mental wellbeing by improving our emotional connection. The focus is particularly important this year, with the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic continuing to touch everyone’s lives around the world.

This week, to support the foundation and fundraise, we are going to be hosting some fun virtual events for our staff and sharing our best advice on maintaining and improving mental health both inside and outside of the workplace. We’re also encouraging everybody to perform one random act of kindness for a colleague, whether it be lending an ear for an afternoon chat or helping out with some overdue admin work. Small things really do go a long way!

We want to do everything we can to raise awareness for the Mental Health Foundation, to put mental health out into the open and start a discussion on the kind of society we want to shape as we emerge out of the Coronavirus pandemic. You can get involved, too, by reflecting on or performing a random act of kindness for somebody this week.
